Ongetemd ambassadeur Rob Sawyer is al weer een aantal maanden terug in OZ. Na een jaar touren, optreden en feesten even een moment van bezinning. Tijd om alle opgedane inspiratie weer om te zetten in nieuwe nummers en nieuw artwork voor oa Ongetemd. Tevens tijd om met zijn nieuwe aanwinst een Toyota Land Cruiser de bush in te trekken.
Het Ongetemd shirt ‘de Garage’, net als alle Ongetemd kleding gemaakt van 100% organisch katoen, uit de Ongetemd wintercollectie is gebaseerd op een foto genomen door Tim Boere tijdens een optreden van de Australische Ongetemd ambassadeur Rob Sawyer en zijn band bij een knalfeest in de Ongetemd garage.
Rob Sawyer doet 2 shows samen met Jaya the Cat in Nederland. Donderdag 3 september staan zij in de 013 in Tilburg en 4 september in de Watt in Rotterdam. Zeker de moeite om mee te maken.
Jaya the Cat is een van de meest grote reggae/punk bands in Europa. Ze hebben al meer dan 600 shows achter de rug in Europa en Amerika. In 2001 hebben ze meegedaan aan de Warped tour en hun songs zijn te horen bij verschillende surf, snow en skateboard films. De relaxte reggae, ska, punk om lekker op te skanken van Jaya staat nog altijd garant voor een geniale liveshow waar niemand stil blijft staan. Houdt je van Rancid en The Clash, dan mag je Jaya the Cat niet missen.

Na het feestje van vorige week bleven na de Ongetemde pit van die avond een aantal voorwerpen alleen achter. Mocht je nog wat kwijt zijn stuur ons dan een berichtje.

Zaterdagavond 18 juli was weer een Ongetemd feest om niet snel te vergeten. Wat een top avond. Met leuke mensen, een fris windje, een warm vuurtje, een koud biertje, een garage vol beukende gasten en meiden en rockende optredens van de jongens van Moore, DJ Lard, Rob Sawyer & band, de Ooievaar, de Kern Koppen en de Kraaien. Zaterdag 18 juli gaat het dak er weer af bij Ongetemd. We geven weer een feestje en niet zomaar één. Rob Sawyer zal optreden met zijn band, net als de Kern Koppen en De Kraaien! En dat allemaal in de bekende Ongetemd garage op de Hellingweg 123 in Scheveningen. Het bier zal weer koud staan en het vuur zal branden. Welkom!!!
We beginnen om 20.00 uur en het feestje zal om 2.00 uur afgelopen zijn. Dus ben er vroeg bij. Volle kaart!!!
Early 2008 Rob fulfils an adventurous ambition, on the completion of a musical tour by bicycle, from the east to west coast of Australia. Known as the On Ya Bike Tour, Sawyer and good mate Harv Scholes load up the back of their bikes with a guitar, tents, and some tasty provisions to ride some 4600kms from Melbourne VIC, to Perth WA. Performing shows in towns and cities along the way, as well as crossing the desert during a heat wave to experience an intense, relentless, fatiguing tour schedule, but also a tour of inspiration, education, and a journey never to be forgotten. Seeya on the road!
After a 4 week stint in Europe Sawyer returns home to Australia. Rob loaded the backpack, along with the new addition of a Mini Maton, for another adventure playing some ripper shows for the good people of France and Holland.
Sawyer landed in Paris for his first show, then up to Amsterdam to play Café Belgique. Possibly the tiniest and coolest bar he’s ever played. Joined by some of the gang from Ongetemd Clothing, and the rad Dutch mates he’s picked up along the way, it was a night of good tunes, good Belgium beers, and a crazy bike ride home to bed. Even managed to get to the bakery for a croissant before sleep!
Some well needed sleep, and then a train ride to Lille, France. For a last minute slot at Le Chti Festival. A big outdoor open-air stage, Sawyer gave it his all to startle an admiring crowd of new comers, passers by, and good old mates.
Then a long night bus to Geneva, where he was picked up by another bus to the French Alps to play the final event for The North Face Ski Challenge in Val Thorens. Open to all European residents—both boys and girls—between the ages of 12-18, The North Face Ski Challenge Tour is arguably the most important competition for younger skiers hoping to break into the circuit. The event promotes all mountain skiing, as each kid competes in both big-mountain freeride contests and slopestyle in the park. Sawyer hit the stage to play his tunes for the kids while they kicked back and had a traditional alp style meal of Tartiflette. So cheesy, so tasty!
Such a great weekend! I made some amazing new friends from many different countries, got plenty of time to hit the slopes, and happily managed to not break any bones doing so! I haven’t really seen the winter in a while playing back to back tours in Australian Summer, and European Summer, so it was strangely refreshing to feel the cold.”
Reaching the end of the tour, another long bus ride north to play again for the new listeners in Lille, then Paris to play the OPA. And last but not least, a visit to Renne, in the Bretagne region. Sawyer played a last minute show at Memes Tra, on Rue La Soif. And then hopped into some good Bretagne cuisine such as Galette and Crêpes amongst other tasty bits and pieces along the way. Then back to Paris and spread wings for the tiring flight home. An all round amazing four weeks of great music, good friends, and plenty of good food! Who could complain?
Massive thanks to all of the venues, hosts, families, and friends along the way! Good times to be had in the future.
